Bruce Springsteen: Artist of “The Aughts” (Re-Post)

Some people are calling the period from 2000 to the beginning of 2010 “The Aughts" (“AUGHT” is a noun in the English Language that means "a quantity of no importance". Synonyms are nada, nil, null, zero, and nothing. Quite a metaphorical OUCH to the last decade)
Being the glass-half-full person that I am, my cup overflowed with “Bruce Juice” over the last ten years. The Boss wins my “Artist of the Decade” by a mile of ..Jersey.. shore. He gave such abundance during this time period of supposed no gain. (Savings, Housing, World Peace…)
InMyHumbleOpinion, Bruce Springsteen is, without a doubt, the music man of “The Aughts” (Arguably the 70’s and 80’s too!) I can’t even think of a decent Honorable Mention candidate. Musically, spiritually, and politically, The Boss gave a ton.
As most know, his live shows with the E-Street Band have been the genuine “greatest shows on earth” for four decades. (I’m hoping you’ve all seen him once or twice or 20 times!)
Many great video and DVD offerings and priceless bootlegs also pack the past ten years.
But let’s focus on his recordings in “The Aughts” alone:
Live in ....New York City.... - April 3 2001 (Live)
       - The “Reunion” tour with the E-Street Band spawned this album which was bursting with many live gems including new material with the controversial “American Skin (41 shots)” and the modern day classic “Land of Hope and Dreams”
The Rising - July 30th 2002
       - Inspired by a fan, The Boss and band musically help heal the world with this release. This “Album of The Decade” loses a sure best album Grammy to Norah Jones? (Now I’m wounded again!)
Devils and Dust  - April 26th 2005
-Another healing release, mostly acoustically, telling some tough American tales. Possibly the most underrated Boss release.
Hammersmith Odeon ....London.... ’75 (Live) - February 28 2006
       -Baby Boomer memories. Ahhhhhh! It’s like ESPN Classic or an old Julia Child show.
We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions - April 25 2006
       -Folky, Rootsy, Celtic change of pace brings a new legion of fans and musically enriches Boss maniacs. Bruce plays his first American Festival (with The Seeger Sessions Band) at JazzFest in NOLA after Katrina.
Sidebar….I got to see the Bruce Springsteen Tribute concert preformed by various artists at Carnegie Hall on April 5th, 2007. Amazing! (Especially when Bruce showed up!) If you ever wonder what makes Springsteen so different (or if you have to convince friends from the MTV generation who are still mad at The Boss for phoning in his videos during the 80’s), think of the “Dylan-esque” reverence he receives from every other artist, musician, writer, politician, teacher, and so many of us. Did everyone see the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert? If not, please do.

       -The Europeans love him too! Great Sing-A-Longs
Magic - October 2 2007
       -Wow! “Is there anybody alive out there?” becomes the Boss’ cry and “Radio Nowhere” becomes a hit single. One of Bruce’s best releases, period. (There, I said it!)

Working On A Dream - January 27 2009
       -Highlighting the 2009 SuperBowl halftime show and playing Bonnaroo and other festivals worldwide. The Mickey Rourke inspired bonus track, “The Wrestler”, is one of Bruce’s most powerful and touching tunes in a “Streets of Philadephia” kind of way.
Bruce Springsteen is The Boss and the “Artist of the Aughts”.  And, For Your Information, the alternate spelling is “Ought” (as in you ought to be a raving fan) Bruuuuuuuuce! Bruuuuuuuce!
